:: Drink Of the Week -- Trick or Treat "Shotail"::

drink of the week beirutThis ghostly cauldron of licorice-melon flavours was conceived by Scott Gemmell of award-winning LA Bartenders. A delicate balance of black sambuca and green Midori, spooky indeed!

Trick or Treat (layered cocktail shot)
1/2 oz. (15ml) Luxardo Passione Nera black sambuca
1/3 oz. (10ml) Midori green melon liqueur

Pour the chilled ingredients carefully into a shot glass so that the green and black layers keep separate. First add the sambuca, and then the Midori.

Try pouring the Midori over the back of a teaspoon to follow the trick of professional bartenders.

Tourism: Baalbeck - Discover Lebanon Series
TourismPosted by admin on Wednesday, October 22 @ 18:34:52 CDT (85 reads)

Baalbeck is a town in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon, altitude 1,170 m, situated east of the Litani River.

Baalbeck is famous for its exquisitely detailed and monumentally scaled temple ruins of the Roman period, known as Heliopolis it was one of the largest sanctuaries in the Empire. The town is located about 85 km north east of Beirut, and about 75 km north of Damascus. It has population of approximately 72.000 habitants.

The history of Baalbeck dates back around 5000 years. Excavations near the Jupiter temple have revealed the existence of ancient human habitation dating to the Early Bronze Age (2900-2300 BC). The Phoenicians settled in Baalbeck as early as 2000 BC and built their first temple dedicated to the God Baal, the Sun God, from which the city got its name.

Prominent Lebanese 4 - Nicolas G. Hayek (born February 19, 1928 in Beirut, Leban
CulturalPosted by admin on Sunday, October 12 @ 07:56:26 CDT (146 reads)

Nicolas Hayek is the co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Swatch Group. He was born to a Lebanese mother and Lebanese father, both from well-regarded Greek-Orthodox Lebanese families with deep roots in Lebanon's Northern Governorate of   El-Koura.

Hayek originally headed a business consulting firm who was called on by a group of Swiss bankers to oversee a liquidation of Swiss watch manufacturing firms ASUAG and SSIH, who were encountering hard competition from Japanese watch manufacturers. Hayek believed that the Swiss watch manufacturing industry could remain competitive with a restructuring and a focus on different business areas. After having engineered and implemented the reorganization of the ASUAG and SSIH watch companies for more than four years, finally bringing about their merger, Hayek, with a group of Swiss investors, took over a majority shareholding in the new group in 1985. He became Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer in 1986.
