G: Drink & Dine in a Mellow Gemmayze Bar

Are you looking for a calm night out with a small group of friends?  For those who like to stay away from the noise and enjoy dinner with some lively conversation and mellow music, G is the place for you.

Located at the end of Gemmayze, a few seconds away from the St. Nicholas stairs, G is a trendy, cozy, and dim lit bar that serves both drinks and food with some good mellow music on weekdays and enjoyable commercial music on weekends to get you in the partying mood.  While driving, you can’t miss it because of its big metallic sign “G”. The place is divided into three sections – the bar for drinks, the dining area for some good food, and the mezzanine for some crazy dancing. Of course, you can drink and/or eat in any section, according to what you please. Although the venue is for a mature crowd, you will see people dancing and joking around because the place is all about having fun.

Whether you’re going for dinner or for drinks, you must ask for the specialty cocktails and let the bartender surprise you. Since it’s always more fun to be munching on something while drinking, I recommend that you try out these appetizers: the Vegetable Spring Rolls and the Spicy Chicken. If you’re going solely for dinner, I recommend that you follow the appetizers with the Goat Cheese Salad, then the Coeur de Filet (USDA prime beef) medium-rare, and a side order of sautéed vegetables and some potatoes.

Although the staff is very friendly, the waiters do not know about the menu items very well; they may not be able to explain or recommend something for you.

Food and drinks will range anywhere from 30 to 100 USD per person.

You can go dressed as casual or as chic; whatever your heart desires.

For a change of pace, this place is nice for a mellow night out during the weekdays with a close group of friends or a calm girls’ night out, or even a tête-a- tête while you’re still in the bustle of the happening street of Gemmayze. If you prefer to go during the weekend, put your dancing shoes on and prepare for some great cocktails.
