Capturing one of the nicest views in the city, Indigo rests at the very top of Hotel Le Gray in downtown Beirut in a round panoramic glass wall venue. Its terrace overlooks the beautiful architecture and energy of the city in a cozy, relaxing and colorful setting. The décor is modern, luxurious and certainly very stylish, complementing the rest of this impressive design hotel. The wine display is a modern and majestic glass fridge in the middle of the restaurant that boasts a vast and rewarding wine selection. The lounge area contrasts the sleek shiny edges of the venue’s dining area, with its colorful flower-patterned cushions that brighten up your day. The open kitchen is a delight to any gastronome, as you watch the busy chefs prepare the delicious platters.
Fresh ingredients and brought together in a mouthwatering presentation to create each plate. Starting with the scrumptious homemade bread, you know that you’re in for a treat. My favorite two starters were the baked sea scallops with leeks and forest mushrooms as well as the tuna sashimi in its delicious dressing. For the main dish, be sure to order the Thai baked sea bass if you’re in the mood for fish – it’s certainly a star item on the menu. In case you feel like having red meat, try the Wagyu beef which is packed with flavor, succulent and perfectly cooked. Don’t forget to order both the potato gratin and mushrooms as sides. Leave some room for desserts though, because the chocolate selection is simply heavenly – enjoy a variety of little chocolate-filled bites that melt in your mouth.
Indigo is certainly one of the few venues that pays this much detail to quality, freshness and star treatment; the staff is very well-trained and efficient. Many may find it pricey, but it’s certainly a fair price to pay for such a meal and experience.
