Paname has opened its doors in Jemmayze offering a typically French bistro atmosphere with cozy seating areas. This is the type of place where you will find a round corner table, a snug little bar, and a separate, more private spot with a transparent rooftop to see the rain drizzle in the winter as you sit warmly sipping your glass of wine.
To come here you can dress up or dress down, step in for an ‘appero’ as the French call it for wine and nibbles, or for a special gathering. Indeed, the menu offers both simple suggestions such as sandwiches, entrees, or fresh salads, and more elaborate main courses such as coq au vin or Boeuf Bourguignon. Managing Partner of Paname, Joseph Choueiri, says “we wanted to introduce what a bistro is truly like, a casual place, enjoyable ambiance, yet with quality food and service”.
For this he has taken on his close friend and well-established consulting chef Dori Masri, specialized in molecular cuisine in France. They were school friends, later loosing touch for 16 years, only to find each other later on in life and start a joint business in a field they turned out to be equally passionate about. He devised this menu for him, available in both French and English: Simple sandwiches comprise croque monsieur/madame, crabe, mozzarella, or grilled chicken. Salads include the likes of smoked salmon, endive au Roquefort, or goats cheese salad with grilled goats cheese, roasted beetroot, apple and rocket greens, served with caramelized balsamic dressing. French food lovers will find the usual foie gras, tartare de filet tendre, or slowly cooked burgundy beef with carrot onions, and button mushrooms served with pommes dauphinoises.
Exactly the kind of place I would have loved to come to for a mellow breakfast on a rainy day to relax or catch up with a close friend, but I couldn’t find ‘warm butter croissant’ anywhere on the menu..any plans Mr.Choueiri? Sure thing! Brunch is coming up soon!
